Home Brew Mart and Ballast Point are now on the Internet at:
http://www.homebrewmart.com/ . The site is packed with brewing information including all of our how-to instructions on brewing, using steeping grains, kegging, mashing and making mead. You can even reach other beer and brewing sites from our jump station. We also have a recipe page that includes beer, wine and mead recipes. Submit your favorite recipe for our new recipe archive that will form a database of successful homebrewed beers!

In addition to the great how-to information, you will find our catalog for ordering from home. It lists all of the equipment and ingredients that
we have available. If there is anything that you cannot find, just ask. If we don't stock it, we will be happy to special order it for you. Make sure to look for our monthly web-only specials! So bookmark the Home Brew Mart web site to answer questions, find recipes and save time and money!

Our Free Beginning Brewing Classes are held every third Sunday from 10-11:45 am. The next two classes will be on April 6th and April 27th.

The popular All-Grain Brewing Class will be held on April 20th from 12-4pm. The class costs $20 and includes a certificate for your first 10 lbs of grain. Please Pre-Pay.

Our next Free Meadmaking Class will be April 13th from 4:30-5:30pm. see you there!

Liquid Yeast: New Strains!

We now have several new strains of pitchable liquid yeasts available!

California Ale: Our original all-purpose pitchable liquid ale yeast.

English Ale: A traditional British style ale yeast that is maltier and more fruity than the California Ale.

Hefe Weizen: A classic German Hefe-Weizen strain that produces a banana , clove like flavor. Great in the Summer.

San Francisco Lager: The ideal steam beer yeast. This lager yeast works well at room temperatures. Throughout the year, we have specialty strains available in small quantities.

Some of these strains include:

Belgian Wit, Belgian Trappist, Pilsner, and Octoberfest Lager.

NEW STUFF !

We have again expanded out stock of grains. Some of the new grains include: Special Roast: a dark toasted malt that is great in British Style Pale Ales; Dark British Crystal: at 135-165L this is one of the darkest crystal malts around. It has a deep caramel flavor; Malted Rye: this is the traditional grain used in German Roggenbiers or Rye Beers; Honey Malt: a lightly toasted grain with a sweet honey-like aroma; and Belgian Pale Ale Malt: this is a darker (3-4L) two-row malt that gives a rich malt flavor to any beer.

Our hop selection has lso grown to include the German Spalt, German Hallertau and British Target. Spalt and Hallertau are traditional German aroma hops, while Target is an all-purpose bittering hop.

The much sought after ball lock style kegs are available again and on special. Kegging is an easy alternative to bottling and allows you to have draft beer in your own home!

There are two new books out. The first is Brew Ware, a how to make it book of homebrew equipment. The other is Designing Great Beers. This is a guide to recreating beers in style. Both look great.
