Home Brew Mart has been serving brewers world-wide for eight years now. From simple starter kits, to advanced all grain brewing systems, we have everything you need to brew the beer you want. Our extensive inventory includes a wide variety of ingredients and equipment and kegging supplies. We also have a friendly and knowledgeable staff to back up our products. Helping you make great beer is our number one goal.

Ballast Point Brewing Company

The brewery was only a dream to the owners of Home Brew Mart when their home brew supply store opened in 1992. Finally, in 1996 the brewery was installed by New World Brewing Systems in the space behind the retail store and production began in September. The brewhouse is 15 barrels with 30 barrel fermenters. Our on-site Master Brewer, Peter A'Hearn is a member "with distinction" of the Institute of Brewing, an honor achieved by only one other American. Come to our brewery and we will gladly give you a tour and allow you to sample our newest selection of beers. As well as being the home to Ballast Point Brewing Co., Home Brew Mart is a full service brew supply store.

The name for the brewery comes from the point where Spanish explorers first set foot in California. Located on the Point Loma Peninsula, Ballast Point is considered the gateway to San Diego Harbor. Stones from this area were used as ballast in the cargo holds of sailing ships returning to the eastern seaboard. Many New England streets are still lined with the ballast brought back from San Diego.

Ballast Point Brewing Company debuts with two classic beer styles; Ballast Point White and Ballast Point Special. Ballast Point White is a Belgian Wheat Beer spiced with coriander, orange peel and curacao. This authentic "Wit" beer is characterized by its cloudy appearance produced by the unmalted wheat and oats used in the recipe. The unique Belgian yeast also lends its own flavor, creating a crisp refreshing beer with a complex fullness. Our Ballast Point Special is in the English E.S.B. style. Full bodied and aromatic, it is served on a nitrogen tap to give it a creamy head and rich taste, while maintaining a low level of carbonation reminiscent of English draught beers.
