| Our four home brew kits offer virtually everything you need for
your first successful batch of home brew. We have designed four kits to allow you to
choose the equipment you want. All kits come with ingredients for your first 5
gallons and full instructions. Three of our kits contain glass primary fermentors and the
other uses a plastic fermentor. Many people ask what the difference is
between plastic and glass in terms of brewing quality. There is no flavor difference. The
glass carboys are non porous and will not absorb flavor. They also allow for full viewing
of the fermentation process. The drawbacks to glass is that it is breakable and reasonably
heavy when full. The plastic offers easy lifting with a handle, and the ability to pour
hot liquid in without fear of cracking. The plastic will eventually absorb beer flavors
and can scratch from rough handling which increases the chance of contamination. Plastic
is a good choice for someone just starting out or someone not sure of the investment they
want to put into homebrewing since the glass carboys are more expensive.
Many people already have a stockpot and bottles, so we have left these out of the first
two kits. The kit #3 offers the ability to begin with absolutely nothing else
required, besides water and your stove. For the ultimate kit, try our kit #4 which
jumps you straight into draft homebrew.
