It is time to grow your own hops!
We have just received our
once a year shipment of hop rhizomes ready to plant. These are root cuttings which have
budding hop plants already growing from them. Only one time a year are these available, so
get them now, and plant them A.S.A.P. Quantities are limited, and the sooner you get them
the better they will grow.
The varieties are: Cascade, Centennial,
Goldings, Hallertaur, Mt.Hood, Chinook, Horizon, Nugget,Tettnanger, Saaz, Fuggle, and
Willamette. The roots are $3.75 each. The rhizomes grow a twining vine which will climb up
to twenty feet. Usually they are wrapped around a trellis or string so they will make a
great looking ornamental plant as well as a source for brewing material. Sometimes they
will take a year or two before flowering, as they need to develop a root system to flower.
They die back each winter and return in spring. Come get em quick because they are only
available once a year! We also have a handout for helpful growing tips.
